Most likely, yes. Chances are good you already have a standard 120-volt outlet in your garage or outside your house, and you can plug your electric vehicle in to it. This is known as a Level 1 charge, and it will take all night, plus a few extra hours to achieve a full charge.

For the fastest charge of your electric vehicle, look for DC Fast-Charge stations. The quickest way to achieve a full charge, it will only take you about an hour of plug-in time to completely power up.

What Happens If I Don’t Charge My Electric Vehicle?

If you have a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV), consisting of both an electric engine and a gas engine, you can just switch the power source and fuel up at a gas station. If you never charge the battery that powers the electric engine, you can operate the car just like you would a regular gas-powered vehicle.
